  • Are scholarships available for classes?
    A limited number of scholarships are available based on financial need. Please email The Cinema Academy for more information.
  • Is The Cinema Academy an inclusive environment?
    The Cinema Academy is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and creative environment for our students. Discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity will NOT be tolerated.
  • When and where does this class take place?
    When: The Cinema Academy follows the academic school year and runs weekly on Saturdays 10am-1pm. Please check the dates for each class. Where: Classes take place at H.B. Woodlawn, 1601 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22209. Click here to view map.
  • How do I register for this class?
    You can register online HERE. Registration deadline is 1 month prior to the start date of the class. All major credit cards are accepted.
  • What are your Covid safety protocols/ requirements for this program?
    The Cinema Academy takes everyone’s health and safety very seriously. All participants must present proof of Covid vaccination by the program start date. Any participant not fully vaccinated must present a weekly negative Covid test result. Failure of either will result in dismissal from the program and loss of deposit. Along with this, masks will be required to be worn at all times during program hours, and standard social distancing guidelines will be followed. The Cinema Academy will make adjustments to these protocols as recommended by public health authorities.
  • What happens if I need to cancel my registration?
    You must cancel within 7 days of the start of the class to receive a 100% refund.
  • How are The Cinema Academy classes managed?
    Professor Lucy is the Lead Instructor for each class, with Teaching Assistants helping with group projects and classroom management. We accept a limited number of students per class so that we can give each student the necessary attention to their creative work. In the unfortunate instance where a student displays unmanageable disruptive or inappropriate behavior, parents will be notified with one warning. A second instance will result in immediate dismissal from the class without refund.
  • What can I do if the class is full?
    If you register after the class is filled, you will be placed on the Priority Waitlist for the next class.
  • Is After-care available for this class?
    All students are in our care during regular class hours after drop-off. There is no After-care available, and students must be picked up within 15 minutes of dismissal time. The Cinema Academy is not responsible for a student after this time.
  • When are make-ups offered for canceled classes?
    In the rare instance that class is canceled due to inclement weather or instructor emergency, a make-up class will be arranged. Make-up classes will not be available for individual student absences.
