ANNOUNCEMENT
As part of its community service, The Cinema Academy (TCA) is happy to announce a free Screenwriting class that will be held at Peace Lutheran Church located at 6362 Lincolnia Rd, Alexandria, VA 22312, scheduled from Sept 24 - Oct 29th, on Saturdays from 10am- 1pm. This opportunity is for middle school students (age: 10-14) interested in screenwriting or creative writing. Application deadline is September 10, 2022. Scholarship awards will be announced on September 17th.

There are 5 scholarship opportunities available. In order to be considered for this scholarship, students must:
a) write a 200-word short essay stating why they want to learn Screenwriting, and email it to TheCinemaAcademy@gmail.com; put on the subject line: Scholar22 essay – your name (e.g.: Scholar22 – Naomi).
b) parents must fill out online registration form and consent to TCA’s media & image policy.
c) when registering and get to your cart, please add “Scholar22” in “add coupon” field.
If selected, parents & students must agree to the following conditions:
1. Students must commit to attending all 6 classes in order to get the most out of the course curriculum (the learning objectives met)
2. Students must arrive at 9:50am (10 minutes prior to class start time: 10am).
3. Students must be picked up on time (class ends at 1pm) no later than 1:10pm.
4. Students must bring their own laptops to class as there will be in-class writing exercises.
5. Students must download a screenwriting software on their laptop: Celtx ($15/month or check free trial copy available)
6. This scholarship opportunity is very competitive only 6 scholarships left.
7. Students must register by the September 10th deadline in order to get in the class. This opportunity is offered on a first come first served basis.
8. Parents must agree to The Cinema Academy’s media & image policy
9. Only complete applications will be considered. Complete applications include the following:
a) submitting the essay by email
b) filling out the online registration form
c) accepting the media & image policy
10. If selected, parents will be asked to sign a liability waiver form.
